Telenor Denmark Selects Starent Networks Multimedia Core Solution

Telenor (News - Alert) Denmark has reportedly selected Starent Networks’ multimedia core network equipment for the carrier’s 2G, 3G/UMTS and 4G/LTE (News - Alert) networks. This comes close on the heels of Telenor Norway’s selection of Starent to replace the core network elements of its mobile services infrastructure.
“This is a significant network upgrade,” Henrik Clausen, CEO for Telenor in Denmark, said. “We are improving capacity, stability and speed and will be able to offer consumers better mobile broadband services.”
And, Clausen said that the agreement will build a network that is ready to meet future consumer demands.
The Telenor Group is an international provider of high quality tele, data and media communication services with mobile operations in 13 markets across the Nordic region, Central and Eastern Europe and in Asia.

Additionally, Dahod added that the company is honored to have been selected for this region and look forward to building out a high-performance, highly intelligent network that can meet the ever increasing demand of their subscribers.
Starent Networks (News - Alert) officials said that the company will be providing Telenor Denmark with the Serving GPRS Support Node and Gateway GPRS Support Node for the 2G and 3G/UMTS networks and Mobility Management Entity, Serving Gateway (News - Alert) and Packet Data Network Gateway for the 4G/LTE network on the ST series platform.
Telenor also plans to use Starent’s Network-Based Traffic Optimization in-Line Service.
