Aruba Networks to supply equipment for Hong Kong public Wi-Fi network
(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Aruba Networks Inc (Nasdaq: ARUN), a supplier of wireless network
equipment, announced on 21 July that it is to supply secure wireless
network equipment to PCCW-HKT Network Services Limited (PCCW).
PCCW, a network service provider, has been contracted under Hong Kong's
'GovWiFi' program to provide free internet access hotspots to Hong Kong
citizens at some 350 locations in the territory. The locations are
mainly Government buildings, but include three public parks. Thirty
locations were commissioned in March, and the remaining hotspots are
due for installation before the middle of 2009.
Around 2,000 hotspots will be running at the locations and Aruba will
supply both the on-site hotspot connections and equipment at PCCW's
network control centres.
