Central Telecom and On-Communications have announced they will jointly sell WiMAX (News - Alert) FWA services via Central Telecom’s CT-Networks Division.

 

Central’s Hosted Services Development Manager, Neil Boxer, said their company has seen the provision of Internet connectivity become an essential business requirement. He observed that this is because UK telecoms operators have been merging at a rapid rate and/or have vacated the Mid Market business space, which has lead to an increasing reliance on services originating from BT (News - Alert) Openreach. 

 

Central has always been innovative in its service delivery, and now the company will be able to differentiate their data solutions from a connectivity perspective by adding On-Communications WiMAX FWA to their portfolio. Boxer pointed out that the market needs a new Internet and data access offering in the space between copper/DSL ‘best efforts’ services and big fibre. He emphasized that On-Communications’ independent WiMAX FWA network bridges that gap wonderfully, fulfilling a real market need.

 

Channel Manager at On-Communications, Geoff Scott, noted that Central is held in high regard by the business community, which is evidenced by the number of awards they have won. He added that Central was very high up on their list of desired wholesale partners.

 

According to Scott, their new WiMAX network is a great platform. It is not just filling the copper/fibre gap, but it is optimized to support next generation IP services such as VoIP, hosting applications and virtual private networks (VPNs). 

 

“We are looking forward to working with Central and CT-Networks to create new value propositions for their customers,” Scott explained.
