4G Wireless Evolution - Motorola Customers Benefit from Proxim's Investment Plan

Proxim Wireless (News - Alert) Corp. has announced an investment protection plan to provide alternatives for customers and resellers of Motorola broadband wireless networking equipment.

The latest plan is expected to extend “preferential” pricing to all Motorola (News - Alert) customers and partners that transition from Motorola’s Symbol, MeshNetworks, Canopy and Orthogon products to Proxim's WLAN, Wi-Fi mesh, WiMAX (News - Alert) and point-to-point solutions.

The company claims that its end-to-end wireless portfolio can provide an alternative regardless of which broadband wireless networking products a customer has purchased from Motorola.

Proxim officials said this announcement allows Motorola customers to transition to “reliable” Proxim solutions. Currently, most of the customers are concerned with the beleaguered company’s recent reorganization of its Home and Networks Mobility division and the future of their wireless networking investment.

Pankaj Manglik, CEO at Proxim Wireless, noted that oftentimes when divisions are reorganized in large companies, customers are justified in their concern for what the effect of that reorganization will have on their existing investment.

He added, “For customers that don't want to question the future of their investment, Proxim provides the most comprehensive end-to-end broadband wireless portfolio alternative to Motorola.”

Proxima is a provider of end-to-end broadband wireless systems delivering the quadruple play. The company has a comprehensive portfolio that includes WLANs, Wi-Fi mesh, WiMAX, point-to-point backhaul, wireless network management, and more. Officials said the comprehensive portfolio enables the company’s partners to configure the right combination of wireless technologies to meet any given customer's specific needs.

“With its encompassing product portfolio, Proxim can help the customer choose the right combination of technologies to truly achieve the network the customer desires,” according to officials.

Moreover, officials pointed out that the company and its partners can develop custom-built solutions for all wireless network and application needs, including systems such as video surveillance, gunshot location, perimeter security and more. They also provide Wi-Fi/WiMAX access for enterprises and consumers and cellular data, voice and video backhaul.

At present, Proxim is offering qualified existing Motorola customers a free 30-day trial. The company also offers a migration program for current customers of 3Com, Adtran, Alvarion, Aperto, Bel-Air, Ceragon (News - Alert), Cisco, Dragonwave, Exalt, Harris, Redline, Skypilot, Stratex, Trango and Tropos.
