4G Wireless Evolution - NextPhase Applies to FCC for WiMAX Base Station

NextPhase has submitted its first application to FCC for setting up a WiMAX (News - Alert) Base station in Anaheim, Calif. NextPhase said it first announced its plan to blanket Orange County, Calif. with WiMAX this year. That announcement followed field testing of the technology at the company's Southern California headquarters.

NextPhase (News - Alert) is a developer of WiMAX networks and provider of broadband solutions based in Southern California, building a nationwide WiMAX network in the 3.65 GHz band.

"We were extremely pleased with the results of our WiMAX testing this spring, and are ready now for our Phase 1 launch within the time frame we committed to earlier this year," said Tom Hemingway (News - Alert), CEO of NextPhase Wireless.

WiMAX, the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a telecommunications technology that provides wireless data in a variety of ways, ranging from point-to-point links to full mobile cellular-type access.

NextPhase will be hoping that their WiMAX base station would provide a strong draw for the place to attract businesses to that area.

NextPhase has stated that their technology is test proven to meet all industry standards and their licensed WiMAX offering will be capable of supporting mission critical data applications as well as voice and data services with at least the same and often greater reliability than that provided by fiber and copper last-mile solutions.

The NextPhase Wireless (News - Alert) Integration Platform includes portals for authentication, subscriber management and back-end services. According to the company, the solution is capable of supporting a number of applications such as last-mile broadband connections, wireless services, voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), hotspot and backhaul, and enterprise connectivity for small, midsized and home-based businesses.

The company will also be helped by the announcements of major laptop manufacturers that they will be rolling out their WiMAX enabled laptops soon. For more info visit www.npwireless.com
