Infonetics Research, a market research and consulting firm, recently released the first quarter (1Q09) edition of its 'Wireless LAN and WiFi Mesh Equipment and Phones' report, which indicated that the worldwide wireless LAN equipment market continues to be impacted by the economic downturn, sequentially dropping 18 percent to $438 million in first quarter of 2009.

Broadband communications authority Epitiro has announced the availability of 'ISP-I WiMAX', which is a software as a service' (SaaS) pre-deployment and in-life test solution ideal for WiMAX service providers and manufacturers. Successful deployment of WiMAX depends on pre-deployment testing. In order to ensure an optimal deployment, robust testing of the WiMAX network, backhaul and consumer devices is mandatory. This process includes functionality, performance, conformance, and interoperability testing (ideally in real world scenarios).

The system will span 17 states and reach as many as 6 million people in 546 rural communities.
