Verizon Wireless Adds Static IP Addressing to its Private Network
TMCnet Contributor Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless announced the addition of Static IP (Internet Protocol) to the Verizon Wireless Private Network. Verizon Wireless Private Network is an enterprise solution which enables customers to communicate with added security and consistence using their wireless devices. This employs a combination of Private IP addressing and dedicated connectivity.
The new Private Network Static IP feature offers more administrative control to enterprise and government customers. Using this they can control employee’s access to the network by assigning them a unique IP address for the identification of each mobile device which is accessing the network.
Besides, enterprise and government customers can also administer their wireless workforce IP policies and also enhance corporate security by the addition of fixed wireless IP addresses to the corporate firewall. Enterprise customers can use Static IP on the Verizon Wireless Private Network and request data on demand from specific devices like wireless routers from anywhere and at any time.
This solution will be most suitable for enterprises which employ a mobile workforce. Users can access and send sensitive information through a wireless router, embedded laptop or mobile Internet device like smartphones securely. The Verizon Wireless Private Network enhances the protection and reliability of wireless data transmissions as data security is of great concern while using public Internet.
Companies dealing with business-critical wireless applications like telemetry-based applications or ATM transactions can increase security offered by them through encrypted traffic. To benefit from the new solution enterprise customers must use their authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA) server or buy any AAA server which supports standards-based messaging necessary for Verizon Wireless AAA certification.
The Verizon Wireless Private Network with Static IP for mobile devices is compatible with Verizon Wireless PC cards, wireless routers, embedded laptops and mobile Internet devices, including smartphones.
Verizon Wireless Enterprise Data Sales representatives can provide more details regarding Verizon Wireless Private Network with Static IP and other offerings to enterprise customers, said the company. Verizon Wireless operates a reliable wireless and data network serving 68.7 million customers in the U.S. and is a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone (News - Alert).
