WiMax Distinction Award for Internet Telephony to Xypoint Location Platform
TMCnet Contributor Global provider of wireless communications technology TeleCommunication Systems has received the 2009 WiMax Distinction Award from Technology Marketing Corporation’s (TMC (News - Alert)) Internet Telephony magazine, according to the company.
The company’s TCS Xypoint Location Platform or XLP allows customers to have access to clear and superior site-based technologies via an open, dynamic and dependable platform. The technology also serves as a prop to network-based solutions and assists mobile operating partners in delivering improved location data services to their users.
TCS’ XLP collates global positioning system (GPS) points from laptops which employ the Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) software through the WiMAX (News - Alert) framework. An internet-based position tracking application constantly places queries to the XLP and reveals the mobile device’s location on a map. The tools and capabilities which are powered by the SUPL software can also be adapted with ease to find precise locations of fixed wireless, portable and mobile WiMax end user appliances such as PDAs and smart devices.
“TCS' Xypoint Location Platform has proven it has made advancements in the bourgeoning WiMAX marketplace while providing its customers with solutions to help grow their business," said Rich Tehrani, TMC President and Group Editor-in-chief of Internet telephony.
This view was echoed by Drew Morin (News - Alert), chief technology officer at TCS, who said: “We currently support more than 100 million U.S. E9-1-1 and commercial subscribers with our Xypoint Location Platform, and plan to continue to help our partners differentiate themselves from the competition with these solutions. This award further validates our position within the WiMAX community as a thought leader and innovator.”

TCS are a prominent player in the market for wireless text messaging and position-based technology, such as the E9-1-1 capabilities and business applications like direction systems that achieves access to satellite based communication systems and services by using the exact location of a wireless appliance.
